The Australian Prudential regulator has come under level scrutiny since the Royal Commission in Financial Services and APRA capability report earlier this year.
Earlier this week the fact that the regulator shook up its executive was splashed across the headlines of the mainstream media.
APRA chair Wayne Byres said in an official statement, “These organisational changes are designed to help us to deliver on our strategy and in particular on the four key community outcomes we have identified as critical for APRA to deliver for the Australian community: financial system resilience, superannuation member outcomes, enhanced GCRA across the regulated sector, and cyber resilience.”
The new appointments per this week’s official statement from the prudential regulator is as follows:
Mr. Sean Carmody has been appointed as Executive Director, Cross-Industry Insights & Data;
Mr. Brandon Khoo has been appointed to the role of Executive Director, Insurance;
Ms. Therese McCarthy Hockey has been appointed as Executive Director, Banking;
Ms. Suzanne Smith has been appointed as Executive Director, Superannuation; and
Mr. Steve Matthews has been appointed Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director, Enterprise Services.
Heidi Richards will be acting Executive Director, Policy Advice pending a permanent appointment
